The addition of an aspherical ED glass element sets a new benchmark for image quality, supporting true-to-life shots of twilight moments in the outback, or under the serene morning at a vast lake. Colour fringing is minimised, alongside the correction of a variety of lens aberrations, from lateral chromatic to spherical, as well as peripheral coma flare and distortion. Working together with the aspherical lenses, ED glass, and High Refractive Index (HRI) lens elements, image production is taken up a notch with every shutter fired. Images are also minimised from the effects of ghosting and flare, while retaining sharp details and resolution even as one aims for the luminous sun as it rises over the horizons, all made possible with the lens’ Nano Crystal Coat.

When on the hunt for that perfect angle, a new Silent Wave Motor (SWM) accelerates autofocus performance speed by approximately 1.5 times, enabling higher accuracy in autofocus. Stable auto exposure is achieved with the adoption of an electromagnetic aperture mechanism even during high-speed continuous shooting.
